The role involves sub editing all of the editorial copy produced for each issue of the print and digital editions of The Phoenix, and ensuring that all pages are 'clean' for printing – e.g. photo captions are correct, graphs show correct information, crossword details are accurate, etc. You will also be responsible for sourcing photographs for certain articles.
This position is part-time permanent position, and you will be required to work long hours every 2 weeks on the magazine's weekday deadline days (Monday and Tuesday).

You will be working on an Apple-based platform, although familiarity with Macs is not essential as the successful candidate will be trained in. For the same reason, familiarity with InDesign Creative Cloud is useful, but not essential.
It is important to demonstrate close attention to detail, a firm grasp of grammar and an inquiring mind. It may help to have a broad knowledge of Irish current affairs, although this is not essential. We are looking for someone with an ability to get on with colleagues in the office, and a sense of humour is a plus.

Salary/Rates:
Payment is on a shift bases = 3.5 shifts @ €128 per shift, per fortnight.
The Phoenix is published twice monthly, and your shifts will be on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday every two weeks and are office based.

•0.5 shift on a production deadline Sunday
•1.5 shifts on a production deadline Monday
•1.5 shifts on a production deadline Tuesday

Holidays:
You will be entitled to 7 shifts for holidays = 3.5 of which must be allocated over the Summer months and 3.5 must be kept for over the Christmas holiday break.
